Set Up a Recurring WhatsApp Message with Claude: Weekly, Monthly, Stop Date (2026)
On this page

Every Monday at 8:00 the members of a small gym get the same message about the week's classes. Someone has to remember to send it. When that someone is on holiday, nobody does.

With the Blueticks WhatsApp MCP connector, you can tell Claude to set the message up once and let it repeat. This guide covers what you have to tell Claude, what it will refuse, and how to check that the series is what you meant.

What can Claude repeat on WhatsApp?

A scheduled message can repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. You choose the interval, so "every two weeks" is weekly with an interval of 2. For weekly messages you can pick the days, for example Monday and Thursday.

The message itself is one thing: text, a file with a caption, or a poll. The recurrence applies to that one message. The tool is scheduled_messages, action send, with a send_at for the first message and a recurrence for the rest.

SettingWhat it means
frequencydaily, weekly, monthly or yearly
intervalEvery N days, weeks, months or years. The default is 1
by_weekdayFor weekly messages: which days, such as Monday and Thursday
ends_afterStop after this many sends, up to 366
ends_onStop after this date and time
timezoneThe time zone the clock time is read in

Exactly one of ends_after and ends_on is required. A repeating message always needs an end, so Claude has to ask you when it should stop.

What do you need before you start?

A linked WhatsApp number in Blueticks and the connector added to Claude. If you have not done that, how to connect WhatsApp to Claude covers it. The connector URL is https://api.blueticks.co/mcp and you sign in with OAuth.

The engine connected to your account has to be online when each message is due. The full tool list is in the WhatsApp MCP tools guide.

The prompt: a weekly message with a stop date

Paste this into a normal Claude chat and change the number, the text, the days and the dates:

Using Blueticks, schedule a repeating WhatsApp message to +972501234567. Text: "Good morning! This week's classes are on the board. See you soon." Send it every Monday at 08:00 (Asia/Jerusalem), starting next Monday, and stop after 12 sends. First check the number is on WhatsApp and check today's date. Then show me the recipient, the text, the first send time, the repeat rule and the end, and wait for my yes before you schedule it.

Behind it, Claude makes these calls:

  1. Check the number. utils runs validate_phone.
  2. Check the date. utils runs current_date_time, so "next Monday at 08:00" becomes an exact time with the right offset.
  3. Pause. Claude reads the plan back and waits.
  4. Schedule. scheduled_messages runs send with send_at for the first Monday and a weekly recurrence that ends after 12 sends.

Prefer a date to a count? Say "until the end of March" and Claude uses ends_on.

What will Claude refuse to schedule?

Two rules catch the mistakes that would silently break a series:

  • Monthly or yearly on day 29, 30 or 31. Some months do not have that day, so the message would skip them. Blueticks rejects it. Start on a day from 1 to 28, such as the 1st.
  • A weekly message that starts on a day you did not list. If you ask for Monday and Thursday, the first send has to fall on one of them.

If Claude hits one of these, it tells you what the tool said. Pick a different start day and ask again.

What about clock changes?

Say the time zone in the prompt, as in the example. When a time zone is set, "every Monday at 08:00" is read as 08:00 on the wall clock there, which is how the schedule stays at 08:00 when the clocks change. Without one, Blueticks falls back to your workspace time zone, or UTC if none is set, so always include it.

How do you check the series?

Ask: "Show me my pending WhatsApp messages for +972501234567."

Claude lists the pending messages for that chat. A repeating message shows its recurrence: how often, which days, and when it ends. Check it against what you asked for before you trust it. A message that was already sent is hidden from the default list, so ask Claude to include sent messages if you want the history.

How do you stop or change it?

Ask Claude to cancel the pending message for that chat. A repeating series keeps only its next send queued, and each following send is created after the previous one goes out, so cancelling the pending one ends the whole series. Then ask Claude to list the pending messages for that chat again and confirm that nothing is left. Rescheduling and cancelling with Claude covers the details. Cancel only works on a message that has not been dispatched yet. If a send is already on its way when you cancel, Claude gets an error, and you should cancel again once the next one is listed as pending.

What can go wrong?

  • The engine is offline. Check the engine status in Blueticks, reconnect WhatsApp, and ask again.
  • The wrong chat. Claude works from the chat id. When two chats share a name, ask it to name the id it will use.
  • A message that should not repeat forever. Always say when it ends. Blueticks requires it.
  • A time zone left out. The series may not follow your clock when it changes. Name the time zone in the prompt.
  • Messages to people who did not expect them. A weekly message to a customer who never asked for it is still unwanted. Send to people who asked to hear from you.

Is it safe to let Claude schedule repeating messages?

A repeating message reaches real people every time it fires, and a sent message cannot be taken back. Anthropic's custom connector guide says that during Research, Claude can use connector tools without further approval, so do this in a normal chat instead. When Claude asks for approval, read the recipient, the text, the rule and the end before you allow it, and avoid "Allow always" for a connector that can send messages.

The line "wait for my yes" in the prompt is a request to Claude. In a normal chat, your approval of each call is what stops an action.

For a single message at a set time, see scheduling WhatsApp messages from Claude. To check what went out, there is the daily check with Claude. Plans and prices are on the pricing page, and you can start free.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude send the same WhatsApp message every week? Yes. With the Blueticks connector, Claude schedules a message with a weekly rule, on the days you choose, until a stop date or a number of sends.

Can I repeat a message every month? Yes, on a day from 1 to 28. A start on the 29th, 30th or 31st is rejected, because some months would be skipped.

Does it have to end? Yes. You give either a number of sends, up to 366, or an end date.

Can I repeat a file or a poll? The message can be text, a file with a caption, or a poll, and the repeat applies to whichever you choose.

How do I stop it? Ask Claude to cancel the pending message for that chat. That ends the series, because the next send is only created after the current one goes out. Then list the pending messages to confirm nothing is left.
