A WhatsApp MCP service lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT read and send WhatsApp messages through the Model Context Protocol. Some are hosted for you, some you run yourself. This page compares the ones we could check against their own pages.
We make one of them, so read this as a vendor comparison. Every competitor fact below links to the page it came from and carries the date we checked it. Where we could not confirm something, we left it out. For a wider survey, see the best WhatsApp MCP servers.
What is a hosted WhatsApp MCP service?
A hosted WhatsApp MCP service is a managed MCP server for WhatsApp. You add its URL to your AI client and sign in. A hosted service on your own number links the number you already use, usually by QR code, while a Business API service connects a number registered through Meta. Self-hosted servers run on your own machine.
How do they compare?
| Blueticks | 2Chat | WaliChat | lharries/whatsapp-mcp | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Hosted | Hosted | Not stated on its MCP page | Self-hosted (Go bridge plus Python server) |
| Connection | Your own number, linked like WhatsApp Web | Regular or Business number via QR; Business API tools once a WABA number is connected | Official WhatsApp Business API, connected through Meta | Your personal account via the WhatsApp Web multidevice API, QR on first run |
| Tools | 9 tools, 46 actions on a standard account | 33 tools | Count not stated | 12 tools |
| Scheduling messages from the assistant | Yes, scheduled_messages tool | None of the 33 listed tools is described as scheduling | MCP does not schedule recurring work; scheduled sends exist separately under Campaigns | No, sending is immediate |
| Trial | Free plan with no time limit; paid tiers have a free trial | Free trial stated | 7 days free, no credit card | Not applicable (MIT license, you run it) |
| MCP cost | Included in every paid tier | Included with every 2Chat plan | Not stated on the MCP page | Free software, your own hosting |
Sources, all checked on 31 October 2026:
- Blueticks: api.blueticks.co/mcp/info, blueticks.co/pricing and the /mcp page.
- 2Chat: 2chat.co/features/mcp-server ("33 tools across messaging, voice and account", "The MCP server itself is included with every 2Chat plan", QR for a regular number, WABA tools once a WABA number is connected).
- WaliChat: wali.chat/whatsapp-mcp ("7 days free. No credit card.", "Connect your number through Meta", recurring tasks need a separate automation).
- lharries/whatsapp-mcp: github.com/lharries/whatsapp-mcp (12 tools, MIT license, Go bridge and Python MCP server, personal account through the WhatsApp Web multidevice API).
Where does each one win?
- Blueticks fits you if you want a hosted service on your own number and want the assistant to schedule, not only send. It is an unofficial WhatsApp Web engine, so it carries the same account-restriction caveats as the other personal-number options.
- 2Chat states the largest tool inventory we could verify, 33 tools, and covers messaging, voice and SMS as well as WhatsApp, so it fits you if you want one provider across channels.
- WaliChat fits you if you want the official WhatsApp Business API route through Meta. That is the right call when official-API compliance matters more than using your own number.
- lharries/whatsapp-mcp fits you if you want everything on your own machine with no third-party service, and you are comfortable with Go and Python. Its page also warns about prompt-injection risk when an agent reads private messages.
Two more tools turned up in our research, personal-whatsapp-mcp (its PyPI page says "23 MCP tools", checked 31 October 2026, though its architecture section says 22) and WhatsMCP.com, which we could not load, so we make no claims about it.
What does Blueticks not do?
Blueticks does not use the Meta Cloud API, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. Nobody can promise that WhatsApp will never restrict a linked number, and consent and opt-out for people you message remain your responsibility. The tool count is also lower than 2Chat's headline number because Blueticks tools take an action argument, which is why we quote actions too.
How do I try Blueticks?
Add https://api.blueticks.co/mcp to Claude or ChatGPT and sign in. Setup for each client is on the /mcp page.
Frequently asked questions
Which hosted WhatsApp MCP service can schedule messages?
Blueticks exposes a scheduling tool, scheduled_messages. Among the others we checked, 2Chat lists no scheduling tool and WaliChat says its MCP connection does not schedule recurring work. Vendors change their pages, so check theirs before you decide.
Is 2Chat or Blueticks cheaper? We cannot say. 2Chat's MCP page gives no price amounts, only that the server is included with every plan. Compare the two pricing pages directly.
Do any of these use the official WhatsApp API? WaliChat's MCP page describes the official WhatsApp Business API. 2Chat supports Business API tools alongside QR-linked numbers. Blueticks and lharries/whatsapp-mcp use the WhatsApp Web linked-device model.
